Sponsorship – Donation of a School Bus to Vouliarates in N. Epirus

THE GOVERNORS OF THE PROPELLER CLUB, PORT OF PIRAEUS TRAVELLED TO VOULIARATES, NORTHERN EPIRUS FOR THE DONATION-SPONSORSHIP OF A SCHOOL BUS

In an intense emotional climate on May 10th, 2019, in Vouliarates-Northern Epirus, the President of the Propeller Club, Port of Piraeus and candidate at the European Parliament, Mr. George Xiradakis as well as members of the Board of Governors celebrated the delivery of a school bus to the students of the school.

The delegation of the Propeller Club, Port of Piraeus, consisted of Mr. George Xiradakis and four of the members of the Board of Governors, Messrs. Costis Frangoulis, Lambros Chahalis, Konstantinos Rokkos and Nikolaos Marmatsouris who traveled from Piraeus for the delivery of the 24-seat bus to meet the needs of the school at the Municipality of Dropolis.

The students and the teachers greeted the Governors of the Propeller Club with enthusiasm, thanking them for their kind sponsorship which solved their long-lasting problem. The event was organized after the initiative of the President of the ‘Union of Children, Family Members, and Friends of Fallen During the 1940-41 Epic’, Mr. Giorgios Sourlas, who submitted the request to the Propeller Club for the purchase of the school bus.

The Greek community of the Municipality of Dropolis and many members of Associations of Northern Epirus attended the event and expressed their desire to keep their national roots alive and their relationships with their home country.

During his speech, Mr. Xiradakis referred to the action of the Propeller Club highlighting its charity actions as well as the sensitivity of the Governors and members in the field of education and to those who serve it. Additionally, Mr. Xiradakis mentioned the struggles of the Greek minority in Northern Epirus, where under adverse conditions struggle to keep the flame of Hellenism alive.

Mr. Giorgos Sourlas, President of the ‘Union of Children, Family Members, and Friends of Fallen During the 1940-41 Epic’, warmly thanked the President and the members of Propeller Club for the immediate response to the request of the people of this region, wishing Mr. Xiradakis every success for his election at the European Parliament.

Prior to this event, representatives of the ‘Travelling for Health and Solidarity’ were in Vouliarates, an action coordinated by the Associate Professor of Cardiology, Dr. Stefanos Fousas along with the participation of doctors of all specialties who examined and informed the students and the residents of the village. Present were also the former Minister, Mr. Antonis Fousas, the Mayor of Pogoni, Mr. Kostas Kapsalis and others.
