Lambros A. Chahalis

Governor – Chairman of the Maritime Committee

Ex Bureau Veritas Vice President / RCE / HBS Region

Born at Piraeus, Greece 26/10/1947.

1962 – 1966 completed the Marine Academy for merchant marine engineers.

1966 – 1980, Started his professional carrier at sea, serving as apprentice, third, second and chief engineer, on board oil tankers, in a recognized shipping company, Orion & Global of Goulandris brothers.

1980 – Oct / 1983, Served as superintended engineer in Troodos shipping, in charge of VLCCS.

November 1983 – December 2016 (33 years), joined bureau veritas serving to various activities, namely: marine and industrial surveyor, then gradually, promoted in various managerial positions as marine quality manager, regional marine manager delegate, Piraeus marine center manager, ships in service operational manager, marine department manager and chief executive marine for Greece and Cyprus.

October 2012, nominated as Regional Chief Executive for the Hellenic and Black Sea region, at Vise President level within the marine and offshore division.

December 2016, moved to pension.

Mr Chahalis recently has been elected governor of the Propeller Club.

He is fellow of SNAME, member of the institute of marine engineers and s/e club.

He was awarded by various shipping and other entities, like Lloyd’s List Greek Shipping awards, French government silver and gold medal, Rhode Island USA senator and s/e club.
