Thanksgiving Dinner

In a very festive and pleasant atmosphere, Thanksgiving Day was celebrated at the ever welcoming Ecali Club. The International Propeller Club of the United States, International Port of Piraeus in collaboration with the American Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, organized a magnificent dinner, with the appropriate turkey dish, on Wednesday 21 of November 2018.

Almost 400 people, members, family and friends of the two institutions were present and spend a fabulous evening. Among them were present HE the Ambassador of the U.S.A. in Greece and Honorable President of Propeller Club of Piraeus, Mr. Geoffrey R. Pyatt and his wife, Mrs. Mary Pyatt, the Deputy Chief of Mission, Mrs. Mary-Kate Burnes, the President of the American Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Simos Anastassopoulos, the Economic Attaché, Mr. Chip Laitinen, the Commercial Counselor, Mr. Keith Silver, the Commander of the Hellenic Navy Fleet Logistics, Vice Admiral Nikos Kafetsis, the Defense Attaché, Captain Timothy Ketter, the President of the President of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, Mr. Pateras George, the President of Piraeus Marine Club, Mrs. Ntaifa Irene, Representatives of American Farm School of Thessaloniki, and Past Presidents and Past Governors of Propeller Club of Piraeus.

Before the dinner was served, the President of the International Propeller Club of the US, International Port of Piraeus, Mr. Xiradakis, took by surprise the participants with two alive turkeys that were brought on the stage, in order to be pardoned, as the custom demands, by H.E. the Ambassador of U.S.A. in Greece, Mr. Geoffrey Pyatt. The two majestic animals where donated by Mr. Panagiotis, who owns and operates the Avra Farm in east Attica.

Twenty people were the lucky winners of the night. Ten printed forms of the ten winning photographs from the “1st GREEK AMVER FLEET PHOTOGRAPHY CHARITY COMPETITION OF THE PROPELLER CLUB OF PIRAEUS” were given along with 10 turkeys that were given by the American Farm School of Thessaloniki. The winners shared with the rest attendants, the reasons that they were thankful, and all together expressed their sincere gratitude for the night and renewed their Thanksgiving appointment for the next year.
