Leonida Trophy 2019

This year’s annual honorary run for the “Leonidas Trophy”, took place on Sunday, September 22, 2019. The President and the Governors of the Propeller Club, Port of Piraeus participated in the run, a 25-kilometer trekking race in honor of Spartan King Leonidas and his companions that fought against the Persians and fell together in the battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC

The sacrifice of King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans is undeniably a historical moment in Greek history that contributed to the strengthening of the basic principles and values of ancient Greece.

The run covered a part of Anopeas Road, in the wider vicinity of the Kallidromo mountain where that battle took place.
