HELLENIC COAST GUARD, VICE ADMIRAL (Rtd)
Spyridon G. Nikitakis has a professional experience of 28 years as a Coast Guard Officer at the Hellenic Coast Guard /Ministry of Shipping &The Aegean.
During his career, he served in critical posts from the Hellenic Port Authority in Piraeus, to Maritime Labour Directorate and then to Hellenic Navy General Staff as a Liaison Officer. Further he co-ordinated the International Cooperation Section of Marine Environment Protection Directorate in Piraeus/Greece, participating with Greek Delegation to MEPC/IMO Sessions in London/UK. He also served twice at the Merchant Ships Inspection Branch as Chief of the Regulations and Legal Procedures Section, as well as Head of the Directorate for monitoring the Regulations and Recognized Organizations.
During his official appointment to the UK from 2008-2011, he was posted as Maritime Attaché to the Ambassador of Greece in UK and shortly after as Head of Maritime Affairs Section at the Embassy of Greece in London. He was also appointed as Alt. Permanent Rep. of Greece to the IMO, with a role of leading the Greek Delegation to all IMO Committees- Sub Committees and W.G’s. He was also participated to IOPC Funds meetings, as well as to EU Coordination meetings.
From 2011-2014, he was headed the First Regional Administration/H.C.G. based in Kavala, with the role to organize and monitor the effectiveness of the total work of seven Port Authorities located in the greater area of the NE Aegean Sea, including their policing and surveillance tasks, especially controlling the refugees’ flows at the sea borders between the Greek Islands of Chios-Mytilene-Limnos- Samothraki and Turkey mainland in the NE Aegean sea area.
He was retired from the H.C.G. in 2014 as R. Admiral and shortly after as V. Admiral by Court’s Act. He was decorated with all military experience awards and medals according to his official rank.
From 2016-2018, he was associated as Maritime/Legal Advisor-responsible for GR and CY- to Celestial Meridian Shipping PVT LTD, a Marine Services Company based in Mumbai/India.
From 2018-2020, he was cooperated with Franman Ltd., a leading Trading House in Greece, established in 1991, as Business Development Manager for Business Unit 1 and 3.
