3rd Maritime Security Conference

On Tuesday, April 28, at the Eugenides Foundation in Athens, we held the 3rd Maritime Security Conference, titled: “Maritime Security in an Era of Geopolitical, Geoeconomic and Technological Disruption”.

The Conference was co-organized by the Council for International Relations, the Society for Geopolitics, and the Foreign Affairs Institute, in cooperation with the School of Maritime and Industrial Studies of the University of Piraeus and the Institute of International Relations (IDIS).

Discussions focused on the geopolitical, geoeconomic, and technological challenges affecting global maritime trade and international shipping, the future of maritime security, and risk management in an increasingly unstable international environment.

Keynote speaker of the Conference was the Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikos Dendias, while remarks were also delivered by the President of the Council for International Relations, Professor Athanasios Platias, our President, Mr. Costis Frangoulis, the Dean of the School of Maritime and Industrial Studies of the University of Piraeus, Professor Angelos Pantouvakis, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Dimitrios Kataras HN, and the President of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, Mr. George Alexandratos.

The Conference reaffirmed the importance of maritime security as a strategic priority and highlighted the role of Greece and Piraeus as key hubs for international dialogue on shipping and geopolitics.
