Michael Karras

Born and raised in Piraeus, I developed an early connection with the maritime industry through training voyages and sea-going experience, which provided valuable first-hand operational insight and shaped my professional mindset. This was further strengthened through my undergraduate studies in Shipping in London, complemented by postgraduate studies in Maritime Law and Shipping Management.
I am a senior shipping executive with over 25 years of experience within the same Group, currently serving as Deputy Managing Director at Target Marine S.A. and Horizon Tankers Ltd SA (Target Group). Over the course of my career, I have progressed through a range of senior technical and operational roles, building a strong foundation in both ship management and commercial operations.
Alongside my executive responsibilities, I actively participate in maritime industry organizations and have served for several years on the BIMCO Security Committee.
On a personal level, I have been married for the past 19 years and am a proud father of a daughter. Family life has reinforced my values of commitment, integrity, and responsibility.
It would be a privilege to contribute to the Propeller Club by actively supporting its mission, strengthening collaboration within the maritime community, and further enhancing its role as a dynamic platform for dialogue, networking, and professional development. I remain committed to serving the values of the international shipping community with integrity, cooperation, and a strong sense of responsibility.
